When a local hospital asked for help, Clear-Vu came to the rescue and created a face shield prototype to help protect healthcare workers
Clear-Vu Medical’s parent company, Autronic Plastics, Inc., focuses on the manufacturing and production of medical products and components. Autronic Plastics, Inc. is a full-service plastic injection molder, mold maker, and assembly certified by UL. Within Autronic Plastics Inc., Clear-Vu maintains a division focused on LED lighting for the transit, life sciences, health care, and temporary lighting markets.
But when the need arose due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Clear-Vu Medical swiftly pivoted to meet a local hospital’s needs. They entered the personal protective equipment (PPE) space at the end of March when Northwell Health needed supplies and the quickest item Clear-Vu Medical could tackle to help meet this critical need was face shields. Clear-Vu Medical is now providing face shields for doctors, nurses, first responders, and others on the pandemic’s front lines.
Clear-Vu started with a 20,000 unit order for Northwell Health, which was followed by another 20,000 unit order for Stony Brook Hospital. To be able to continue meeting this need, they redesigned their face shields to increase production and a 200,000 unit order for the Stony Brook Hospital also followed.
Eventually, the State of New York – Department of Health placed a 1 million unit order and Clear-Vu began working with other medical and dental distributors. By the end of July, they will have made roughly 6 million units.
In April, Clear-Vu created a GovShop profile, which they optimized with guidance from the GovShop team. Through their GovShop profile and leveraging the GovShop community, Clear-Vu received an order from the State of North Carolina for 200,000 face shields.
Competing with big-name companies can be difficult, even during a time of crisis – making those government introductions invaluable. Clear-Vu CEO Danny Lax said, “We appreciate the sale we get through the GovShop introduction. It was a significant amount of revenue for us through a channel that didn’t exist. Without GovShop we wouldn’t have found that opportunity and capitalized on it.”
Clear-Vu Medical will continue searching for additional opportunities on GovShop to provide much-needed face shields to the healthcare community.
