<p>Kraus Aerospace is a U.S. company that develops autonomous persistent fixed-wing Unmanned Aerial System (&ldquo;UAS&rdquo;). Their flagship product is known as the K1000ULE (&quot;Ultra Long Endurance&rdquo;), a highly capable Open Architecture based Group-1 UAV that can remain aloft longer than any other in its category and provide multiple in theater capabilities. The platform is specifically built for users with the toughest requirements in the most austere conditions. The K1000ULE supports multiple launching modalities including bungee assisted hand-launch, vehicle launching and shipboard launching options. The K1000ULE performs fully autonomous missions from the time the operator gives the aircraft a launch command to the time the aircraft performs an autonomous precision landing. Operators can change mission parameters in real-time while the aircraft is airborne. The K1000ULE has been tested by the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps against the G/ATOR and RPS-42 radar systems at the 2019 Advanced Naval Technology Exercise (&ldquo;ANTX&rdquo;) West to have an extremely low radar signature providing relative stealth properties. This is due to the use of specialized materials within the K1000ULE&rsquo;s composite airframe construction together with curved surface areas deflecting radio waves. Furthermore, the K1000ULE has an extremely low acoustic and zero heat signature. The software and sensors onboard the K1000ULE autonomously detects updrafts (thermals) during a defined mission. The K1000ULE automatically takes advantage of identified thermals to lower power consumption and to gain altitude with zero operator influence. Once the K1000ULE autonomously decides that its altitude is sufficient to continue with its mission at a very low energy state, the aircraft then returns to its mission profile and continues to its defined waypoints (or other mission parameters). The K1000ULE has a high-altitude capability, relative to group-1 UAS platforms. The K1000ULE can operate at an altitude of 20,000ft AGL to perform effective Radio Relay, MANET, ISR and/or SIGINT operations. This can be considered the equivalency of a 3.8-mile high transmitter tower providing persistent services. Furthermore, the aircraft can also operate at extremely low-altitudes of just a few feet using an advanced high-definition orographic and terrain following technique making it possible for the K100ULE to perform terrain following missions. The K1000ULE&rsquo;s terrain following software performs a look-ahead function relative to the current position along its flight path to further ensure that the aircraft autonomously climbs to avoid upcoming terrain. Amongst its &#39;plug-and-play&#39; multi-payload capabilities including Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (&ldquo;ISR&rdquo;) and Signals Intelligence (&ldquo;SIGINT&rdquo;), the K1000ULE UAS further extends its Command and Control (&ldquo;C2&rdquo;) link to provision on demand infrastructureless NSA Type-1 Certified communications services from an aerial vantage-point for the provisioning of services on multiple and definable bands.
